A Brief History of Yamaha Guitars

William McRea asked:

In general, the Yamaha Corporation manufactures a wide variety of products. Among these include Yamaha line of acoustic guitars. They have a lot of experience and have been building instruments since the late 1800s. Today, people know Yamaha as a Japanese company that is known for its products, including their instruments and acoustic guitars.

In 1887, the Yamaha Corporation began making instruments. In this case, it was an organ. The company, however, got started in 1897. It was called the Nippon Gakki Corporation with a man named Tarakusu became the president. He was the individual who make the organ in 1897.

So, the organ was essentially their first instrument. In 1900, they expanded their instrument line to the piano. They even started making furniture in 1903. But, they managed to receive a good amount of recognition at the Worlds Fair in St. Louis when both the piano and the organ one an honorary prize.

The dabbled in creating other products, such as the harmonica and phonographs. They even started designing acoustics for concert halls. Finally, in 1942, they debuted their first acoustic guitar. By then, the company had been in business for almost fifty years, so they were already known for their instruments and musical products.

Yamahas products line has since expanded. At one point, they even had an archery products business and started manufacturing motorcycles. Many people may think that because Yamaha has interests in a wide range of things, they do not necessarily do any of them well. That simply is not true. Yamaha acoustic guitars are high quality and stand up to some of the best acoustic guitars in the world.

There guitar models include the Yamaha 12 String model, the Yamaha F-310, the Yamaha FG 325, the Yamaha CJ 12, the Yamaha S70A, the Yamaha CPX8, and the Yamaha 20. However, there are a lot of acoustic guitar styles available so you would have to visit your favorite music store or the Yamaha website to learn about all of them.

There are also a lot of artists who love and play Yamaha acoustic guitars. These include Peter Hayes, Amy Abdou, Clayton Gibb, Peter Hayes, Chris Henderson, Michael Herring, David Lvita, Steve Wilkinson, Take 6, and Mark Oakley. For more information on the artists visit at yamaha.com.

Here are some reviews written by satisfied Yamaha Acoustic Guitar uses:

About the Yamaha Dynamic Guitar

This guitar is great, it has great sound, and is probably one of the best looking guitars ever, it is perfect for just sitting down and playing anything genre of music you like. Another thing I liked about this guitar is that it always stays in tune.

About the Yamaha CJ 12

The build quality is superb- you would think that the guitar was more expensive as it really is beautifully made. Tonally, it is quite bright for a jumbo but sounds brilliant. I recorded a demo with it and recorded it sounds great- a real Neil Young acoustic tone! Obviously the access to the higher frets is problematic, but I believe that if you are looking at a guitar like this then you are not getting to play above the 12th fret much anyway! Other than that, the string spacing is superb and the neck is much more reminiscent of an electric guitar than an acoustic-it reminds me of the neck on a Les Paul.

Yamaha Electone Organ Versus Yamaha Arranger Keyboard

Mike Shaw asked:

Over the past ten years or so, electric organ sales have slumped to all time low. Yet the arranger keyboard market continues to flourish, especially with keyboards such as the Yamaha Tyros, Korg PA-2X Pro and the Roland G70. In my opinion, the organ is much more playable as a live instrument, and using bass pedals, you can play the organ without any drum machine or automatic chords and get a fantastic sound.

The keyboard on the other hand would sound thin, definitely lacking without auto chord/bass. Of course, arranger keyboards are considerably cheaper than new organs and take up less room. This has created a new generation of keyboard players, some of which could never afford the hefty cost of an organ.

So is this the end for the electric organ. So how do organ manufacturers address this problem? Well they were and still are designed to be a piece of furniture. Great big lumps of wood, which appeal to the older generation, which is why they have the reputation of being an older person’s musical instrument. This need to be changed so they appeal to all generations. The next major change has to be the hefty cost. A top of the range electric arranger keyboard such as the Roland G70 would cost between two to three thousands pounds. The top of the range Roland Atelier organ will cost you in the region of twenty thousand pounds new.

This change may have already started with new models from Yamaha with the Yamaha D-Deck organ and the top of the range Yamaha Electone Stagea. Both are portable and very modern looking. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information on these models unless you read Japanese. Yamaha have decided there is no organ market in the UK, Europe or the USA. So if you want one of these models you will have to import it yourself.

At the time of writing this, even these new modern looking organs are now out of date. As far as I am aware the Yamaha Stagea electone organ and Yamaha D-Deck organ do not have the “Super Articulation” that is available on the Yamaha Tyros 2 arranger keyboard. There are also a lot of brand new features on the latest crop of arranger keyboards, which include Roland G70, Korg PA 800 and the Ketron Audya, the latter, still a prototype.

So if you want an electric organ set up. You might be better of buying two arranger keyboards and a pedal board. It would be considerably cheaper than importing the Yamaha Stagea and you would be assured of the latest sounds and technological advancements.

Yamaha Scooters and Its History

Kenneth Elliott asked:

The Yamaha Motor Company began production of Yamaha Scooters in 1955 and started exported the first models of Yamaha Scooters to the United States in 1960. At first Yamaha’s were little more than scooters of a style that was familiar in movies of the period. The company has produced ever greater examples of excellence in engineering ever since.

Through the years Yamaha has worked to refine their scooters to fit the end consumers. For the most part they have been very successful. Producing models that are lightweight and could stand up to the elements. The Yamaha 125cc and 250cc models were ridden by a million people in the 1970s. But even as early as 1970 Yamaha produced a four-stroke 650cc, the XS-1, that was a beauty to behold.

Today, Yamaha makes a broad line of bikes and scooters that encompass all types and sizes. Models range from the 50cc scooters to the 249cc Virago all the way up to the 113ci (1854cc) Stratoliner S and the V-4 Royal Star Venture. The latter is ‘only’ 70ci (1147cc), but its liquid-cooled engine puts out a throaty roar, and the ride is as smooth as a Jaguar.

Be prepared to put out some serious cash for the larger Yamaha motorcycles models. These cruisers and touring bikes start at $15,000 and with accessories and customization can easily run $20,000 or more. Fortunately, like Harley-Davidsons, a well-maintained Yamaha can keep its value year after year. Many older models sell for more than new bikes.

But in contrast, Yamaha scooters are very economical. On the low end you could spend as little as $2000 dollars for a brand new Yamaha scooter. But on the high end you could spend as much as $8000 to $9000 dollars. The higher end models have more bells and whistles. They also have larger engines allowing them to be very good resources in urban cities.

The 49cc Vino Classic is a great starter scooter for younger riders, but would be appreciated by women and others as well. This is a European classic retro style, straight out of the movies scooter. Weighing 166lbs it may be small but it delivers plenty of power for zooming along the streets or hill climbing off-road.
